About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and (public and private) international partner organizations. Duties
Analyze integration opportunities or challenges, sets priorities for Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) integration, and to assist the supervisor in establishing overall program focus and objectives.
Work under the general supervision of the J54 (Chief for Security Cooperation), JS (Strategy, Policy, and Plans) Directorate, U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM).
Provide support on Security Cooperation issues during the various phases of the work being accomplished by in-house organizations, contractors, and other federal agencies.
Serve as a coordinator for the Engagement and Integration team and is the Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) expert for prioritization.
Responsible for the coordination of Traditional Commander's Activities (TCA) to support the validation of the Theater Security Cooperation Management Integration System (TSCMIS).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement 15% of the time.
- This position requires DoD Security Cooperation Workforce (SCW) Certification. The incumbent must complete certification-related training requirements in the SC Area of Concentration (AoC) Basic level within 1 year.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing the synergy of Command activities with the primary purpose of building partner nation capacity and cooperation through the Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) Strategic Planning Process. Experience coordinating with Security Cooperation Offices (SCOs) located throughout the Command theater of focus during the development and execution of individual country plans and engagement strategies to ensure support of Command strategic goals, planning guidance, and Theater Campaign Plan. Experience enhancing Command capability to support theater security cooperation, security assistance, and component deployments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
