About the Position: The incumbent will provide an independent comprehensive range of clinical services to both inpatients and outpatients and their families, including providing psychotherapy to the individual or family system, as well as coordinating and implementing discharge plans as a member of the medical and/or surgical inpatient teams. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services to identify and manage personal, psychological, and interactive problems associated with occupation and personal adjustment. Develop individual treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis, identified problems, and treatment needs for each case. Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interview, case history, and observation techniques and assessment methods. Analyze information collected to determine diagnosis, treatment plan and/or advisability of counseling or referral to other specialists or institutions. Evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust patient's treatment plans as appropriate. Develop and deliver curriculum on behavioral health topics relevant to primary care.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
• This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
• This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual or group therapy, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
