You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.

Duties

You will plan work to be accomplished by junior employees of different trades (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing, electrical). You will plan work schedules and meeting completion dates in accordance to priorities set by higher-level supervisors. You will use MAXIMO to input schedules, manage work and preventative maintenance. You will read blue prints, specifications, sketches and manuals for numerous trades to solve complex problems. You will coordinate work with other supervisors and engineering personnel in order to complete all segments of work in a timely and efficient manner. You will resolve working problems and take necessary action to overcome delays in order to complete all work on schedule. You will check, understand, troubleshoot, install and make minor adjustments to electrical/mechanical components of diverse building systems.

Qualifications

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is 1. Able to weld using oxyacetylene, electric arc and other welding techniques on various metals flat, round stock and piping, and metal fabrication using shears and metal breaks to fabricate ductwork, flashing and other job specific applications. 2. Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical fundamentals used in order to effectively service and repair various types of mechanical equipment to include air compressors reciprocal and screw type, air dryers, pumps, motor controllers and related equipment. 3. Perform visual checks of boilers, heating and air conditioning systems to determine causes of defects on equipment. 4. Read and interpret detailed equipment blueprints, electrical schematics, drawings, and specifications for proper installation and maintenance requirements of HVAC systems.
