Duties
The Pathways Student Trainee is responsible for processing and understanding federal Geospatial Information System (GIS) datasets, learn data management practices, and produce summary reports of spatial analysis results.
Processes and learns how to understand and interpret federal GIS datasets, learn data management practices, and produce summary reports of spatial analysis results.
Assists in the development of methodologies and execution of spatial analysis projects.
Assists with the development of Python scripts to automate geoprocessing.
Assists with the automation of geoprocessing large GIS datasets.
Assists with the development of scripts in Python and how to build and deploy web-based maps and applications using the ArcGIS Online suite of tools.
Assists with the processing of large datasets in Python Pandas (clean data, perform aggregations, determine statistical measures) and in ArcPy (automate geoprocessing of Census and telecommunications data, produce visualizations of results in matplotlib, JavaScript based applications).

Qualifications
A degree seeking student in the field of Geospatial Information Systems or another related field and must have completed at least two years of post-high school education.
Enrolled in a school that has been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
A written sample or project demonstrating proficiency using Geospatial Information Systems.
Enrolled at least half-time as defined by your school.
Be in good academic standing (i.e., must have at least a 3.0 GPA or its equivalent).
Students must provide a Cover Letter describing their interest in the Office of Economics and Analytics (OEA).
US Citizen or if you are not a citizen you must meet one the following criteria: 1. owe permanent allegiance to the United States (for example, natives of American Samoa and Swains Island); 2. be a lawfully admitted for permanent residence and seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)(B); or 3. be admitted as a refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157 or have been granted asylum under 8 U.S.C. 1158 and have filed a declaration of intention to become lawful permanent resident and then citizen when eligible.

Must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree in the field of Geospatial Information Systems or a related field. Must be actively enrolled as a current student. TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED.
Education requirements must be met prior to appointment. Updated transcript at the time of selection is required to verify requirements have been met.
