The primary purpose of this position is to perform clerical duties and carry out the daily operations of the front desk of the Child Development, School Age Program, Family Child Care and Youth Center hourly, wrap around, special event, part-day pre-school, surge and summer programs. These programs offer care for children aged 6 weeks to 18 years of age.
Duties
Perform the administrative, clerical and building custodian duties of the Airman and Family Services Programs.
Receive/make telephone calls and greet visitors.
Administer records, forms, supplies and daily financial reports.
Use varied functions of multiple office automation software to produce a wide range of documents, formats, etc.

- Position/employee is subject to obtaining and maintaining training, to include infant/child CPR, first aid, and various Airman and Family Services training modules.
- May be required to have current driver's license to perform duties that entail the use of a vehicle.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing. IA W AFI 44-107, dated 7 Apr 2010.
- Must satisfactorily complete a physical and keep current on all immunizations.
- Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
- The work requires some walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs, carrying children and/or moderate lifting of items weighing 15-44 pounds, works in a childcare facility and may be required to rearrange furniture weighing up to 40 pounds
Qualifications

Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes perform clerical duties and carry out the daily operations of the front desk of the Child Development, School Age Program, Family Child Care and Youth Center. Compiles hourly and daily child attendance reports, Assist staff with clerical and procedural requirements and instructions. Consolidates, reviews and verifies funds and forms, Prepares and consolidates time and attendance records in accordance with established procedures. This experience must have been at a level of difficulty and complexity sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this position. It may have been gained in the private sector, volunteer service, military service, and/or government service, etc.
OR
Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your official transcripts with your application

Completed a combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your official transcripts with your application.
Typing Requirement: All applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-04 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of office functions to screen telephone calls and visitors, prepare and review correspondence, and perform other administrative work of the organization.
2. Knowledge of automated and/or physical filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed.
3. Knowledge of format of clerical procedures to arrange a variety of material from different sources.
4. Knowledge of Airman and Family Services programs and procedures.
5. Skill in typing, a qualified typist is required.
6. Ability to locate, assembles, and composes information for routine reports, inquiries, and non-technical correspondence,
7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy.
8. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
9. Ability to lead employees in the accomplishment of work assignments.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
