This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence-Office of Foreign Assets Control, OFAC. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will be providing expert advice and consultation, creating communication material, and serving as a liaison with Treasury's Office of Public Affairs.

Duties

As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will: Administer the public affairs program in OFAC; serve as an advisor, providing authoritative key communications management expertise and analytical support; and plan, develop, and communicate OFAC's programs, policies, and activities to interested parties. Provide advice, analyses, recommendations, and options to senior executives on developing new methods, strategies, and communication plans to support the complete spectrum of program activities. Review, edit, and develop informational materials to carry-out communication strategies. Establish and maintain contact with Treasury officials to obtain background materials, views, and interpretations.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level in the federal service or equivalent private sector, that is directly related to the position as listed above and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as having ALL of the following: Planning, leading, and coordinating U.S. economic sanctions actions and/or public affairs initiatives; AND Establishing working relationships in order to disseminate messages that address organizational programs; AND Preparing written and oral informational (e.g. news releases, fact sheets, reports, presentations, etc.) materials that communicate an organizations activities or programs; AND Developing recommendations for management for improving communication with the general public, media, or specialized groups to advance an organizations mission and objectives; AND Preparing meetings that include public involvement strategies to various audiences. TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
