Duties

As a Nurse (Consultant), you will: Provide senior consultation, technical assistance, guidance and support in issuing decisions on medical coverage including medically necessary diagnostic, cancer screening, and treatment services allowed under the WTC Health Program. Establish and maintain a process for enrollment and certification of WTC responders and survivors and Pentagon and Shanksville responders. Determine eligibility for benefits, oversee the review of medical claims, design and manage the medical diagnosis and process that supports benefit access for covered conditions, and approve services with utilization limitations. Manage complex program deliverables and collaborates with occupational health subject matter experts. Serve as a team supervisor providing supervision, direction and motivation to employees. Establish guidelines and performance expectations for staff.

Requirements Continued: Current or Former Political Appointees: Agencies must seek prior approval from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or non-political excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, or Non-career SES employee in the executive branch, you MUST disclose that to the Human Resources Office. Failure to disclose this information could result in disciplinary action including removal from Federal Service. Current or Former Political Appointees: Submit SF-50. Basic Qualifications: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs , Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education , or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Additional Basic Qualifications: Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination . In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience: leading nursing-related consultation and technical assistance in issuing decisions on medical coverage including medically necessary diagnostic and treatment services; and develops public health policies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
