About the Position: Serves as an Equipment Specialist on vehicle operation, use, maintenance repair, inspection, modification and replacement.

Duties

Serve as the Leased Vehicle Program Coordinator. Prepare monthly fuel and maintenance service reports. Track vehicle expenditures for possible future inter-service support agreement (ISSA) and/or in-house maintenance work. Determine warranty implementation/expiration dates on equipment, input data into automated records, and prepare required forms and reports. Establish maintenance frequencies, process reconciliations, inventories, and document register closeouts related to vehicle and/or equipment accountability. Assist shop foreman and operating personnel in locating and determining equipment deficiencies and needs for repair or modification.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid government motor vehicle operators permit authorizing the operation of vehicles and equipment of the type and capacities determined by the supervisor.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) equipment and/or vehicle management for an organization such as fleet maintenance, coordinating inspections, and warranty control and (2) creating reports utilizing an automated systems such as Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint to track vehicle or equipment maintenance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Property Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Data Analysis and Decision MakingMaintenance Planning and Program DevelopmentSystem Maintenance Performance Review and Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). *All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements. Current employees applying under VEOA are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
