Duties
You will perform configuration management assignments to formally document and control the functional and physical characteristics of a system, network, or product during its life cycle.
You will serve as the primary point of contact and MCD S-6 representative for computer hardware and software related problems at the MCD and its subordinate stations.
You will provide technical assistance to functional users at the MCD and recruiting stations to minimize operational disruptions.
You will coordinate with and support technical trouble call specialists as needed in specific areas relation to hardware installation and movement.
You will remain current in information technology to maintain and update the network through review of literature, participation in meetings and attending technical and operations trainings.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 41 level Basic within 12 months of appointment.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Report and document LAN changes in status as they occur.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Perform customer service help desk duties.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provide formal or informal training ensuring users understand the relationships of the system and able to work with the system without interruption.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Test and analyze computer malfunctions to resolve physical operating problems.
In addition to experience demonstrating the four competencies above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector maintaining the daily operations of a Local Area Network (LAN), the maintenance and accountability of computer hardware and software AND training personnel on best use of available software.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
Completion of a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree

Completion of 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree
