Duties

You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFORMATION SECURITY) in the Information Architecture Dept (N6), Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (COMNAVMETOCCOM), US Fleet Forces Command (USFLTFORCOM), Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. You will serves as the Information Systems Security Officer for COMNAVMETOCCOM. You will ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data. You will evaluate the implementation of security controls across platforms and evaluate the vulnerability exposure of COMNAVMETOCCOM IT systems utilizing approved tools. You will conduct assessment and authorization activities in accordance with requirements and procedures established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology Risk Management Framework (RMF). You will ensure the overall management, coordination, and preparation for execution of assigned projects.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: 1. Attention to Detail- IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintaining situational awareness (SA) of Network Operations connectivity requirements and capabilities as to ensure effective command and control. 2. Customer Service- IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Providing technical expertise concerning Navy Enterprise-wide development, implementation, modification, and management of long and short range IT planning and goals. 3. Oral Communication-IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Presenting reports and briefs to technical, non-technical, and senior personnel on research and development of network services. 4. Problem Solving-IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Resolving difficult issues and making recommendations on delivering network transport services. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience supporting Cybersecurity workforce personnel in implementing Information Technology compliance and security procedures in accordance with DoD/DON policies and directives. Experience providing administrative, technical, and professional oversight of cybersecurity practitioners, administrators, and technical personnel. Experience assisting in developing cybersecurity programs that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and minimize risks associated with cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Experience developing and implementing strategies and planning for continuity of operations of a system integration and testing environment. Experience planning, executing, and overseeing all aspects of a project to ensure successful completion within scope, time, and budget constraints, including management of a project team and reporting status on project goals and objectives to management.
