About the Position: This position is located at US ARMY AVIATION AND MISSILE COMMAND, USATA, TMDE SPT REGION WEST, OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR, FT CARSON.
Duties
Selects, applies, and interprets electronic principles and practices as related to the specialty area as required to collect, reduce, display, analyze data, and provide metrology information for a wide variety of general purpose TMDE.
Prepares test and certification reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections, and uncertainties, over a specified range of circumstances for instruments being calibrated.
Interfaces with user and manufacturer of test equipment as necessary to clarify questionable areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments or nonstandard TMDE.
Assists and advises users in the instrument application, measurement accuracy, and recommended calibration requirements for TMDE in support of their mission.
Implements, adapts, modifies and periodically develops technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements.
Prepares reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provides technical information used in the decision-making process for the development of documents used for TMDE certification.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 4 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
- This position has a moderate to heavy lifting requirement. This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator without more than normal supervision. I am able to perform common Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator tasks including calibration and repair operations on precision measurement equipment; interpreting technical procedures and schematics and adapt them to calibration assignments; applying troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORTS: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
