About the Position: This position if for a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator Supervisor responsible for supervising workers, directly or through leaders, in the calibration and repair of a wide range of calibration standards; occasionally adapting procedures; participating in studies and making tests to determine limitations of test equipment; and functions designed to increase the accuracy and effectiveness of the assigned calibration and repair program.
Duties
Studies and analyzes work operations and makes changes in workflow, methods, priorities, ect., to assure timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
Directs and reviews the work of subordinates.
Makes assignments; furnishes technical advice and assistance; instructs subordinates in specific task as necessary; makes available written instructions and reference materials.
Revises work for technical adequacy and compliance with instructions.
Advises customers relative to repair and calibration of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.
Responsible for the execution of administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission assigned.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require travel to other duty locations 5% of the time.
- Position requires a pre-employment physical due to the need to perform frequent bending and sitting, and the need to lift up to 40 lbs.

To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator Supervisor without more than normal supervision. The ability to lead the work operations of a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator program; able to complete personnel management duties e.g., establish performance standards, identify, and provide training/developmental needs, provide advice/counseling, etc.; assigns work assignments to subordinate - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
