You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST (ATFP/PHYSICAL SECURITY) at the MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT SAN DIEGO of MARINE CORPS RECRUIT DEPOT.

Duties

You will develop and review the command's antiterrorism, physical security and operations security orders, plans, and policies, ensuring all policies and directives comply. You will provide oversight for the employment of active and passive security measures designed to protect personnel, facilities and equipment across the command to include measures for access control, electronic surveillance, and protective barriers. You will develop and review Antiterrorism/Force Protection (ATFP) plans for training, exercises and special events to ensure compliance with applicable policies and directives. You will identify and prioritize antiterrorism and force protection funding requirements, and coordinates submission of these requirements in the command's budget request. Coordinate and lead the Antiterrorism, Physical Security, and Operations Security working groups on a quarterly basis to improve programs through enhanced situational awareness, training, program review, and development. You will conduct searches of open source and classified systems to gather threat information, assess risk to mission and risk to force and provide daily/weekly updates regarding potential impacts to their personnel, property, and missions. You will coordinate and perform threat vulnerability, criticality and risk assessments for command assets, personnel, and special events.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Department of Defense Level II Antiterrorism Officer certification.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing antiterrorism and operations security; coordinating and performing threat assessments; planning trainings; following policies and directives. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
