This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Position is within US ARMY AVIATION AND MISSILE COMMAND, DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF, G3, G-33 CURRENT OPERATIONS DIVISION.

Duties

Provides logistics assistance on a regional basis to supported units by investigating, coordinating, and recommending solutions to logistic problems and deficiencies affecting deployed weapon system(s). Provides technical and procedural advice and equipment configuration /modification assistance to program managers, fellow LARs, and units, on current and newly fielded weapon systems. Advises senior level commanders (post, camp, and station), fellow LARs, and unit personnel on the proper equipment operating procedures. Provides, initiates, or recommends specific action(s) to senior level commanders on how to achieve and maintain weapon system readiness at or above the Department of Army materiel readiness goal (AR 700-138). Conducts overall technical appraisal of the region-wide program through analysis of reports and data and through discussions with key operating and staff personnel within and outside the region of assignment.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Performance of duties require the incumbent to participate in Aerial Flight (not as a crew member).
  • Incumbent is required to be mobile for worldwide assignments as the needs of the service dictate, per AR 700-4.
  • Incumbent must be able to pass an appropriate initial physical examination, an annual, deployment physical, and agility test in accordance with AMC Regulation 700-19.
  • Possessing a valid state vehicle operator's license in CONUS. Obtaining and retaining a valid vehicle operator's license as required by the OCONUS Country of assignment.
  • Incumbent must be willing to sign a mobility agreement under the provisions of the agency mobility program, Logistics Assistance Program (LAP) Employment Mobility Agreement AMC Form 2884.
  • Incumbent occupies a position that is considered essential to support of DAs mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increasing tension or mobilization. Position is considered emergency essential.
  • Incumbent may be on-call, work irregular hours, accompany the assigned unit during technical and training field exercises, and deploy to contingency areas in support of the command's weapon systems.
  • Incumbent is required to travel away from the duty station (TDY) on multiple overnight trips up to 50% of the time.
  • Incumbent will attend, as scheduled, those technical disciplines and/or system function area training courses required to obtain and/or maintain proficiency on the assigned systems.
  • Incumbent must be able to possess and maintain a Government Credit Card.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid official Passport.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: 1) performing as the logistics assistance authority and consultant on all aspects of aviation electronics mission activities; 2) analyze, assess and make recommendations for aviation training, aviation maintenance operations and aviation supply functions; 3) analyze and assess needs affecting status of aviation electronics weapon systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
