About the Position: Serve as Special Staff to the Commander, Army Field Support Battalion (AFSBn) as the single point of entry for the integration of CECOM field support actions, executes activities to improve and sustain the material readiness of equipment and software for supported units within assigned region.
Duties
Serve as Special Staff to the leadership group as the single point of entry for the integration of CECOM field support actions
Execute activities to improve and sustain the material readiness of equipment and software for supported units within assigned region
Advise leadership and stakeholder partners regarding the effectiveness of total support provided to units owning/maintaining program of record and non-program of record systems and materials and makes recommendations on process improvements
Prepare briefings and/or information papers on the status of CECOM support initiatives to other commands, other Government agencies, and industry.
Perform analyses and/or assessments of proposed support concepts and structures
Identify under or overutilization of manpower to make recommendations for workload, balancing with the goal of maximizing use of existing personnel and capabilities to the CECOM SCR.
Coordinate directly or through subordinate supervisors the activities of all assigned CECOM personnel local or in geographically separated offices.
Makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors.
Evaluate customer satisfaction and team performance through feedback metrics.
Provide positive customer focus while maintaining a positive work environment.
Requirements
- One-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- Required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Position is Emergency Essential (EE) in support of the US Forces during periods of increasing tension, mobilization, and war (Chapter 75, Title 5 USC; Federal Personnel Manual [FPM] Chapter 753).
- Required to sign a Department of Defense (DoD) Form 2365. DoD EE Civilian Employees Overseas agree they will remain in the event of hostilities or mobilization.
- May be required to deploy to, and remain in, hostile zones during crisis situations or mobilization, which may require flying in military aircraft.
- Will be required to live under field conditions: in tents consuming field rations such as Meals Ready to Eat (MREs).
- Single parents or families, where both parents are EE, are required to prepare and present their supervisor an approved family care plan.
- May be on-call, work irregular hours, accompany the assigned unit during technical and training field exercises, and deploy to contingency areas to support the Command's weapon systems.
- The employee is required to sign a mobility agreement, Army Materiel Command (AMC) Form 2884, IAW AMC-Regulation (R) 700-19.
- May be required to wear military type uniforms, Organizational Clothing - Individual Equipment (OCIE), and Chemical Defense Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) specific to an operation or as directed.
- Must be able to function in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) protective equipment and may have to remove facial hair to ensure the proper fit and function of protective mask. Training for all equipment is mandatory.
- Valid State driver’s license is required to obtain a military and/or international driver’s license for exercises, deployments, or assignment to a foreign duty station.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid host nation vehicle operator license when assigned Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
- Must meet current physical and functional requirements IAW AMC-R 700-19 and the current Mission Operations Director (MOD)
- US Central Command (USCENTCOM) Individual Protection and Individual-Unit Deployment Policy, prior to employment and annually thereafter.
- Responsible for ensuring no medical, dental, vision, or other health-related restrictions could prevent a deployment.
- Must maintain all required immunizations. If required, the employee will receive a series of vaccines to include Anthrax and annual boosters. Failure to receive vaccines may result in removal from the position.
- Overseas assignment will be in IAW established tours as defined in DoD Civilian Personnel Joint Travel Regulations, unless mission dictates otherwise.
- Must maintain a valid "No Fee" (Official) and a Tourist Passport at all times, at the agency’s expense.

This is a DoD Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project (AcqDemo) position in the NH-04 broadband with an advertised pay range from the lowest equivalent GS-14 grade Step 1 to the highest equivalent GS-15 grade step 6 in the broadband. This position is subject to the NH-04 Supervisory Director/Deputy Director/Division Chief/Branch Chief control point of the CECOM Control Point Policy. Management will set the pay for this position consistent with the qualifications and education of the selectee and the expected contribution for the position.
