Duties

This position allows you to use your knowledge and experience to plan and carry out a wide variety of mission support assisting with sector supplies and fleet management budget development, and program planning activities related to Mission Readiness Operations. This position starts at a salary of $88,525.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $115,079.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $115,079.00 (GS-12 Step 10). The Mission Support Specialist (Logistics) serves as technical expert providing guidance for variety of comprehensive services related to logistics, fleet management, and supply procurement. Duties and responsibilities include: Managing the sector and/or station fleet program to include overseeing the ordering, receiving, inventorying, transferring, and excessing fleet vehicles. Managing the sector and/or station property program to include acquisition, receiving, transferring, excessing, reutilization, repairing, disposal, and retiring of various types of property. Performing on-going mentoring, training, and guidance to peers, colleagues, employees and supervisors; assisting with developing and recommending solutions to a range of logistical operations and technical issues to evaluate and improve services and processes. Performing other mission support related duties for the sector and/or station to include scheduling travel, processing personnel actions, analyzing the budget, and serving as a point of contact for emerging trends affecting operations.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing logistics and/or fleet management duties such as: Maintaining various necessary inventory management records and reports. Researching, assigning, approving, and accomplishing purchase requests to procure goods and services. Providing written recommendations on policy and providing written guidance to Local Property Officers Identifying goals and establishing strategies to accomplish them effectively and timely. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 02/23/2024.
