The House Security Division provides a centralized location to facilitate the transmittal of all security clearances, background investigations, and control of classified documents for the House of Representatives. In addition, the House Security Division is tasked with administering the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) available for use by Leadership, Committees, and Members for classified briefings.
Duties
Duties:
Checks parking permits and identification cards for individuals entering House garages, lots and streets.
Patrols garages, lots and street parking areas on a daily basis for parking policy violations and unsafe conditions.
Monitors vehicular traffic in House parking areas.
Assists the United States Capitol Police with Member and staff recognition.
Assists Members or staff with vehicle emergencies.
Assists in Parking Security office, answering telephone calls and issuing temporary parking permits as needed.
Assists in the issuance of new Congress parking permits.
Assists in training new Parking Security staff.
Provides assistance in maintaining Parking Security and Sergeant at Arms official vehicles.
In the absence of a supervisor, may be called upon to exercise judgment on requests for temporary parking permits for House staff and visitors.
Assists with special events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Experience and Education:
High school degree or equivalent. Must have three or more years of experience relevant to this position. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to pass a criminal history records check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Incumbent must have the ability to maintain a professional and courteous work disposition, work well under pressure and display good judgment; must possess leadership and organizational skills; must be able to complete an approved training course(s) administered by the Sergeant at Arms Office; must have a valid driver's license; must have the ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles; must be able to physically perform all duties to include lifting objects up to 50 pounds; standing for periods of up to 2 hours, and walking distances of up to one-half (½) mile.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, permanent. Monday - Friday. Hours will be consistent with the day (6:45AM -3:15PM) or evening shift (2:30PM-11PM). Must be able to work outside of normal business hours, when necessary, evenings and weekends as needed.
