About the Position: Serve as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) under general guidance from the supervisor accomplish a variety of tasks in support of the mission and function of the organization. This position is located at the US Army Human Resources Command, Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate, Readiness Division, Fort Knox, KY 40122.

Duties

Review outgoing correspondence for conformance with regulations, grammar, format and command policies. Maintain the Division Chief's calendar and based on the knowledge of the office workload and current issues of importance and schedules appointments and meetings. Provide office automation supporting the division and subordinate branches. Maintain several tracking systems using spreadsheet capability provided by software packages. Responsible for timekeeping functions for civilian personnel assigned to the Division.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent may be required occasionally to perform Temporary Duty Travel (TDY).
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

GS-05 Specialized Experience: is defined as performing clerical, statistical, and data entry tasks in support of the administrative work of the office, using an automated data processing system. Possess experience and demonstrated proficiency utilizing system commands to create and delete files, search files and records, store or extract material from a variety of software packages to include word processing software, transmit large amounts of information, and general cumulative, statistical, tabular, narrative and graphic reports. OR GS-06 Specialized Experience: is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes work in applying a standardized body of military and non-military HR rules and regulations, policies, and operations sufficient to perform a full-range of support assignments as it pertains to personnel management, experience in using judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as agency policies, regulations and precedents for applications to specific cases or problems. Experience in using military and non-military HR personnel management programs to revise sort, and compare information from a variety of files, records and databases. OR GS-07 Specialized Experience: is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes work in applying a standardized body of military and non-military HR rules and regulations, policies, and operations sufficient to perform a full-range of support assignments as it pertains to personnel management, experience in using judgment in interpreting and adapting guidelines such as agency policies, regulations and precedents for applications to specific cases or problems. Experience in using military and non-military HR personnel management programs to revise sort, and compare information from a variety of files, records and databases. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer LiteracyCustomer Service Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

Education

GS-05 Education: (4) years above high school obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

GS-06 Education: successfully completed a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Business Administration, and Human Resource Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

GS-07 Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Human Resource Management etc.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
