This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: located in the US ARMY TMDE Activity, TMDE Support -- REGION 1 Aberdeen TSC, Aberdeen Proving Ground MD 21005-5001.
Duties
Utilize operating principles of complex, multi-parameter electronic instruments using analog and/or digital signal processing such as radio and radar test sets, high frequency digital sampling and storage oscilloscopes.
Use a full complement of precision electronic reference standards, and/or complex special test fixtures/accessories/panels to accurately quantify interacting factors complicated by a variety of critical tolerance values.
Analyze interface problems between instruments, instrument controllers, and sensors in complex test/measurement systems to in order to troubleshoot.
Maintain dimensional accuracy through precision measuring instruments (e.g. calipers, height gauges, squares, protractors, inside, outside and depth micrometers, surface gages, and dial indicators) to ensure accuracy of calibration.
Use precise calibration hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and feeler gauges to meet TMDE calibration standards.
Troubleshoot systems using diagnostic tools/instruments typically located in a calibration laboratory to determine cause of measurement disagreement.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties, with occasional requirement to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position may require occasional travel for business approximately 5% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR ~ without more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
This position requires a pre-employment physical examination.
This position requires lifting up-to 50 lbs.
This position requires Temporary Duty Travel (TDY)up to 10%.
