About the Position: Position provides calibration traceable through the Army Calibration Laboratory and Army Primary Standards Laboratory to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and provide information on test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) accuracy's and uncertainties under a variety of conditions.
Duties
Prepares calibration reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections factors, and measurement uncertainty for instruments being calibrated.
Implements, adapts, modifies and occasionally develops technical procedures required by changing user or equipment requirements.
Assists and advises users in the instrument application, measurement accuracy, and recommended calibration requirements in support of their mission.
Interfaces with user, manufacturer, and US Army Activity engineers as necessary to clarify questionable areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments or nonstandard TMDE.
Selects, applies, and interprets electronic principles and practices to collect, reduce, display, and analyze calibration data for a wide variety of complex general and special purpose test measurement diagnostic equipment.
Identifies and documents errors in existing procedures and provides information used for the development of technical documents used for calibration and certification.
Requirements

- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator~ without more than normal supervision. Such work includes demonstrated experience performing calibration and repair operations on precision measurement equipment; interpreting technical procedures and schematics and adapt them to calibration assignments; applying troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
