The ideal candidate for this position will provide supervisory oversight for a professional staff that performs work concerned with community planning and developing the art and science of planning to apply to communities such as urban or rural neighborhoods, villages, Indian reservations, cities, counties, regions, States, U.S. Territories or the nation.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The time-in-grade and qualification requirements must be met within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-15 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following: Serving as the leading expert on recovery policy issues, providing technical advice and guidance Overseeing extremely complex and difficult assignments of national and regional scope and significance Provideing oversight of work that includes resolving a broad range of issues concerning the application of enabling statues, pertinent regulations, and/or general laws affecting long-term community recovery In addition to the specialized experience requirement(s) listed above, you must meet the following basic requirements to be considered for the position (Transcripts must be sumitted): Degree: community planning; or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance. Note: Applicants with degrees in related fields, such as those listed above, who do not have the 12 semester hours of specified course work must have had at least 1 year of work experience in community planning acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in one of the above disciplines, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the above disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
