This position is located within the Office of Safety Recommendations and Communications, Safety Advocacy Division in Washington, DC. The incumbent will serve as a Social Media Specialist responsible for the National Transportations Safety Board's (NTSB) social media strategies to meet the agency's communication needs to support the NTSB's mission.
Duties
As a Social Media Specialist, GS-1001-11, you will perform the following major duties:
- Establish short and long-term strategies for using social media, including the best approach to reach and engage audiences.
- Managing social media tools, including the social media calendar, and posting content per NTSB social media strategy.
- Ensure NTSB's social media governance aligns with other federal guidance.
- Analyze NTSB social media efforts using quantitative and qualitative information, such as engagement data and measurements, developing reports and driving changes in approach to support the agency's mission.
-Identify new social media opportunities, including new mechanisms for using existing tools and launching new channels.

Qualifications
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-11:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector). Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Experience using a wide range of social media platforms and other software platforms. (2) Knowledge of information gathering and analytic techniques to gather, analyze, and report on social media data. (3) Knowledge of federal social media laws and requirements.

Education: You may substitute a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent degree) or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or L.L.M. if related for experience at the GS-11 grade level or such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: You must submit copies of your official or unofficial college transcripts.

Combination: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience as described above, to meet the total experience requirements. The education portion must include graduate courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do to the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials.
