Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to act as the CMCC scheduler for the Formal Training Unit (FTU) Squadron. To provide direct assistance to the 74 RS Director of Operations and 9 OG Scheduling staff to schedule training event activities. Full working knowledge of scheduling products and other appropriate tracking tools is required in addition to being well versed in applicable AFIs and other guidance to ensure all training and operational currency requirements are completed by established deadlines. Analyzes total mission requirements and available resources to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the squadron's operations. Acts in coordination with the OG Commander, Squadron Commander, and CMCC Operational Units' scheduling personnel to develop daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly training schedules to meet mission training requirements for rated and non-rated CMCC operators. Also responsible for developing the unit plan for all training operations. Responsible for meeting the CMCC's training production rate set by ACC. Constructs operations and training schedules for training resources. Plans and organizes all CMCC FTU scheduling activities. Monitors operations initiatives and assures conformity with management objectives and policies. Ensures all standardization and personnel requirements are met.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes knowledge of scheduling policies, directives and procedures as they relate to crew testing, training and weapons systems Knowledge of Air Force operations, resource management systems associated programs, interface requirements, and retrieval language. Understanding of the complexities and limitations of computer equipment and multiple complex administrative software programs unique to programmed training requirements, reporting of crew currencies and training events, automated scheduling an office automation Knowledge of Wing, ACC, AF and DoD security procedures. Knowledge of scheduling procedures and crew training requirements and implementation of formal training syllabi programs. Knowledge and ability to operate automated scheduling equipment, hardware and numerous complex software analytical programs. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of scheduling procedures and crew training requirements and implementation of formal training syllabi programs. Knowledge and ability to operate automated scheduling equipment, hardware and numerous complex software analytical programs. 2. Obtains the efficient use of assets for training. Correctly identifies support requirements and required resources for upgrade training requirements, and arranges support in a timely manner. Ensures crew members are scheduled for appropriate training requirements, and are notified of currency requirements at least 90 days in advance of becoming noncurrent. 3. The training schedules are reviewed, corrections identified and provided to leadership in time for corrections to be directed and adjusted prior to publishing the squadron schedule. Except in rare circumstances, real-time adjustments are made on a daily basis to resolve scheduling conflicts allowing completion of training missions and upgrade training. 4. Ability to skillfully and fluently communicate verbally and in writing in English. Written and oral presentations to unit leadership are clear, concise, and follow a logical flow to a recommended action. 5. Ability to interpret operational policies, plans, and directives and to make appropriate applications. Schedulers are made aware of and trained to accomplish new procedures in scheduling processes before the implementation of changes by the Command team. Assess program effectiveness through data collection and research, up channeling issues for leadership's consideration to change as necessary. 6. Application of technical analytical and evaluative techniques in the collection of data and identification of program deficiencies and areas for improvement. Ability to analyze alternative solutions and identify the best solution for operations. Ability to make independent decisions in real-time while superiors are monitoring the situation. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
