This position is located in US Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Eighth Coast Guard District, Response Division, Intelligence Branch, in New Orleans, LA

Duties

The incumbent serves as the Eighth Coast Guard District Deputy Chief of Intelligence, assisting in the management of the District intelligence program spanning twenty-six states, including seven Coast Guard Sector Intelligence Staffs. Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the District Eight military and civilian staff supervised.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS 13 level: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line work. Example of specialized experience includes: collecting, reviewing, evaluating, interpreting, and performing first order analysis of law enforcement intelligence on all maritime threats in and around the ports and costal waterways, producing intelligence reports, and disseminating tactical and operational intelligence to the port level operational commander, Coast Guard Maritime Intelligence Fusion Centers, Intelligence Coordination Center, and other Intelligence and Law Enforcement agencies, responding to requests for tactical support and intelligence data, performing liaison functions, conducts briefings, determining the proper distribution for raw data and reports. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
