This position is located within the United States Coast Guard (USCG), Office of the Vice Commandant (CG-09), Executive Assistant (CG-09E) located in Washington, DC.

Duties

The incumbent will be assigned to the Vice Commandant’s staff.  The incumbent will assist the Strategic Planning Team in the development of the Vice Commandant’s short- and long-term schedules in alignment with the US Coast Guard’s strategic agenda.  The incumbent will provide additional support as required to ensure the Vice Commandant is prepared to excel in all scheduled engagements through the development of robust preparatory (read-ahead) materials.

Requirements

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A one year probationary period maybe required.
  • Drug/Alcohol Test required.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-12: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade level (GS-11 level) in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Specialized experience includes experience:  You will need to meet 4 out of the 7 bullets below:   Responding to frequent changes in a high visibility office; Writing, analyzing, and editing materials for senior leaders; Familiarity with organizational task management processes (Identifying and implementing areas of improvement, analyzing reports and tasking of materials.); Coordinating the analysis of ethics opinions for events; Managing and maintaining calendars for senior leaders: Intermediate experience level with Microsoft (Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel); Communicates clearly and concisely. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
