The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Prevention Analyst at an Air Force installation. Under the direction of the Integrated Prevention Chief, the Prevention Analyst leads collection, analysis, interpretation, and visual implementation of data for the installation Integrated Resilience Office.
Duties
1. Organizes all aspects of integrated prevention program planning, assessment, evaluation and continuous monitoring of prevention activities for the installation. Serves as research, planning, and evaluation subject matter expert for installation primary prevention efforts and development of the bi-annual Community Action Plan (CAP), operationalizing DAF resilience and prevention strategy for the installation. Using rigorous methods (i.e. RAND's Getting to Outcomes) and other effective prevention frameworks (i.e. public health approach and socioecological model), effectively guides efforts to reduce risk and promote common protective factors and resiliency in the community. Identifies and prioritizes emerging issues for the Total Force working on the installation and their families.
2. Leads integrated prevention data collection, analysis, and presentation through regular updates to the Community Action Board (CAB), Community Action Team (CAT), unit leadership and relevant forums as requested. Provides oversight, direction and assistance related to data collection and analysis to the IRO leadership and staff, community action partners, and unit leadership. Leads design, planning and execution of qualitative and/or quantitative data collection instruments including interview/focus group processes and surveys.
3. Applies knowledge and understanding of research-based primary prevention strategies and programs to inform the installation prevention process. Identifies, adapts, and evaluates research-based prevention programs, policies, and practices effectively and in collaboration with individual(s) or entities responsible for prevention programming and other relevant oversight in accordance with federal laws and applicable regulations. Selects and makes recommendations for research-based prevention activities that fit with the installation's readiness and needs.
4. Accomplishes professional development and maintains proficiency through interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development organizations, and participation in formal training programs. Keeps current on available and emerging theory, techniques and methods through independent study, and reviewing technical journals and current literature. Attends prevention education courses and training workshops to ensure proficiency for implementation and evaluation of installation prevention activities.

- Knowledge and experience within primary prevention is highly desired.
- Must obtain, maintain and renew credentialing as required by a credentialing board identified by the DoD and specified in policy.
- Position requires flexibility and adaptability to implement DAF’s frequent program and policy modifications, which are often made quickly in response to evolving environments, mission sets and risk/protective factors.
- The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Incumbent must meet screening/suitability criteria listed in DoD and DAF guidance.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Basic Requirements
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
I meet the basic Individual Occupational Requirement (See Announcement) AND I have or will have within 120 days of the closing of this announcement the 1-year specialized experience at the next lower grade level, GS-11 / NH-02. Examples of specialized experience include:
1. Applying knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to prevention and resilience.
2. Providing knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to prevention and resilience and the multiple uses of such systems.
3. Using knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
4. Providing in-depth knowledge of military culture, military family dynamics, and the unique challenges military families face.
5. Working well in a team approach and effectively lead and chair committees, working groups, and teams.
6. Communicating effectively, orally and in writing

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to the prevention of violence and promotion of helping seeking and resilience.
2. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to violence prevention and the multiple uses of such systems.
3. In-depth knowledge of DAF culture, military family dynamics, related professional fields, and a thorough
knowledge of the DAF community and the unique challenges that DAF families face; or equivalent knowledge.
4. Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions to inform prevention efforts; ability to formulate and conduct assessments and evaluations to implement and monitor primary prevention plans.
5. Skill and ability to provide professional advisory services, develop and utilize appropriate data collection
techniques and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques for prevention.
6. Ability to identify individual and community risk and protective factors in order to determine needed primary
prevention activities to meet the needs of the base populace.
7. Ability to work well with others in a team approach and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
