About the Position: Serves as Inventory Management Specialist for Logistics Management Division, Supply Distribution Center. Provides direct support to the Depot Accountable Property Officer in confirming and maintaining LMP supply inventory accuracy. Serves as technical expert and supervisor for supply inventory management operations.

Duties

Coordinates work operations with other organizations within the depot Reviews and analyzes information and reports to evaluate progress, to identify actual or potential problems, and to take or recommend actions to improve operations and reduce costs. Directs and selects materials to be cycle counted on a daily basis. Collects data for the preparation of Reports of Survey, and Inventory Adjustment Reports. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates gains and losses identified in inventory adjustment reports and takes action to have discrepancies corrected Resolves questions about the validity of charges for materiel. Establishes program to ensure a process of continuous purification of supply assets (property on hand). Validates inventory difference in LMP warehouse management (WM) Reviews job descriptions for currency and accuracy and makes changes as necessary. Plans work to be accomplished by employees, establishes priorities, deadlines and work schedules. Assigns work to employees based on command priorities, consideration of the difficulty and requirements of varied assignments and the capabilities of individual. Provides ongoing mentoring, direction, advice and instruction on all work-related and administrative matters.

  • This position requires obtaining and maintaining a SECRET security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires possession of a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver license.
  • This position may require travel up to 25% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes participating in planning and determining current and future supply requirements, conducting studies related to the execution of inventory control and receipts functions, assisting in resolving discrepancies in records, providing guidance to other employees, and briefing management on program issues and accomplishments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Supply Chain Managment, Business Administration or Operations Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceInventory ManagementManages Human ResourcesPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
