This position is located in Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Base Alameda, Naval Engineering Department, Industrial Production Facility in Alameda, CA.

Duties

This position operates in support of the US Coast Guard (USCG), Naval Engineering Support Unit, Industrial Operations Division and performs major overhaul and/or repairs on all types of machinery and mechanical equipment aboard Coast Guard vessels and stations or used in support of Coast Guard missions.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • May be subject to overtime.
  • May serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • May be a member of an inventory counting team.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen out Element) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials Trouble shooting National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
