About the Position: The purpose of this position is to serve as the Lead Human Resources Assistant (Office Automation) responsible for directing and guiding 3-5 Human Resources Assistants (GS-0203-05)/Processing Technicians (GS-0303-05) or military equivalent. Provides technical expertise, guidance and leadership to the Processing Element of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).

Duties

Coaches, facilitates, solves work problems and participates in the work of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Processing Element. Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established procedures and assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload. Greets applicants, tracks enrollment, movement, and processing progress. Assembles applicants, administers briefings, and instructs applicants. Provides input to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be required to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
  • Will routinely be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
  • May be required to perform occasional overnight travel as assigned.
  • Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Must have 1) AND EITHER 2) OR 3): 1) Performs human resources data processing of forms and/or records. AND EITHER 2) Utilizes automated software systems to enter and extract data. OR 3) Maintains and/or files correspondence in accordance with an established filing system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Additional Minimum Qualification: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
