Duties
As a Supervisory Health Scientist you will:
Serve as Principal Deputy Director for the ORR Division of Readiness and Response Science
Serve as a senior scientific advisor and aid the Director on matters of science, policies, activities and operations in the technical management of Division programs.
Provide day-to-day direction and oversight of the Division's technical programs
Provide expert advice on readiness and response science and research, surveillance systems, laboratory systems, and outbreak and emergency response
Direct policies and procedures that assure progress of studies and programs and redirects or reallocates resources appropriately.
Direct, coordinate, and oversee work through subordinate supervisors.
Advise staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters.
Ensure reasonable equity among units of performance standards developed, modified, and interpreted and rating techniques developed by subordinate supervisors.
Explain performance expectations to subordinate supervisors and employees directly supervised and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
Foster, build, and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with appropriate officials of state, federal, nonfederal, organizations.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience serving as a leader, directing and guiding organization staff who focus on data science, as well as utilizing subordinate supervisors and team leaders to direct, coordinate, and oversee work.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
