About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W1U301 US ARMY INTELLIGENCE AND SECURITY CMD. This position is located at the HQ U.S. Army Field Support Center, Fort Meade, MD.

Duties

Conducts legal research on a variety of administrative legal issues and drafts legal documents for review by the supervising attorney. Conducts research and prepares legal documents on administrative law issues, to include: Army Regulation 15-6 investigations, line of duty investigations, financial liability investigations, and Inspector General (IG) administrative investigations. Provides litigation support examining and evaluating information provided in case files and interviewing potential witnesses to obtain information. Performs general administrative duties such as retrieving files, cataloguing opinions, determining appropriate means of document delivery to meet deadlines, and prepares memoranda, outlines, and other materials for office use.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required 10% or less of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.

OR Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Law, Paralegal Studies, Legal Support and Services, and Legal Studies. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR A combination of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the position. Have the specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and have at least two years of graduate education as described, but less than the required three years.
