This position is to lead three or more employees in the Medical Supply Distribution area to provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following: Lead three or more employees in the distribution area of Logistics Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload Monitor status and progress of work, make day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities Estimate and report on expected time of completion of work Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies Give on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices Maintain current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, or other guidelines as necessary and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up Check on work in progress or spot checks work not requiring review Review completed work to see that supervisor instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to supervisor Approve leave for a few hours or for emergencies Report to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems or issues Provide information to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignments, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Position Description/PD#: Supply Technician/PD99833SRelocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not required

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/21/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05 The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Intensive knowledge of standard supply management procedures to perform work involving inventory and excess material management. thorough knowledge of related to stock rotation, hazard alerts and recalls to ensure outdated or otherwise compromised supplies and material are removed from usage area. Must have advanced knowledge of an automated point of use inventory system (OmniCell or similar secure dispensing system), as well as the parent inventory system, both of which monitor issues and receipts in support of stock replenishment processes. thorough knowledge of different supply items including the trays and sets, and must understand how items are used in case the user or supply technicians under their lead refer to them by another name. Requires knowledge of the availability, economic use, operations, and the integration of the aseptic procedures into the total health care program. Lead technicians must understand terminology and items related to specialty carts to ensure carts are built appropriately and to conduct training with team members as appropriate. Thorough knowledge of item descriptions, medical and surgical terminology established work methods and recognized priorities of the clinical areas served. Thorough knowledge of the various functions of Logistics, sufficient to provide advice to customers on contact points for various Logistics processes and staff. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary; however there is a requirement to walk, push, pull, lift, climb and bend in order to perform supply inventory stock receipt, storage and issuance, and demonstrate equipment use to patients. The employee may sit comfortably to do most of the work. The work is performed in a typical office-like setting. There may be some times when the employee will be in a supply area, but the area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
