This position is to lead three or more employees in the distribution area to provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material. Assignments include but are not limited to: scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing, and the distribution of medical and surgical supplies, instruments, and other material. Knowledge of policies and procedures, inventory systems, bar-coding, aseptic procedures and logistics processes.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Lead three or more employees in the distribution area of Logistics.
Distribute and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assures timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
Monitor status and progress of work, make day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities.
Obtain assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise, such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly.
Estimate and report on expected time of completion of work.
Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies.
Give on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Maintain current knowledge and answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, or other guidelines as necessary and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up.
Check on work in progress or spot checks work not requiring review.
Review completed work to see that supervisor instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met.
Monitor working conditions.
Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refers others to supervisor.
Approve leave for a few hours or for emergencies.
Report to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees, and on behavior problems or issues.
Provide information to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignments, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/05/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Specialized experience: Experience leading a team of employees, distributing supplies and materials; including sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment to all areas of the facility. Scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distribution of supplies and materials, assists in training new employees, maintains current knowledge and answers questions on procedures, policies. Maintains stock: by pulling stock, replenishing stock, and maintaining records on stock levels, monitors expiration dates and rotates stock, cleans assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles, and receives supplies and material into the facility.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary; however there is a requirement to walk, push, pull, lift, climb and bend in order to perform supply inventory stock receipt, storage and issuance, and demonstrate equipment use to patients. The employee may sit comfortably to do most of the work. The work is performed in a typical office-like setting. There may be some times when the employee will be in a supply area, but the area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
