This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Responsible for linking national defense strategy, national military strategy, achievement of unified action by integrated military forces in operations conducted across domains such as land, sea, air, space, or the information environment, strategic planning and contingency planning, command and control of operations under unified command, national security planning with other departments and agencies of the United States.

Duties

As a STRATEGIC TRAINING SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Responsible for implementing global military integration within all aspects of the Division mission. Includes the incorporation of policy, strategy and planning, operational and strategic military risk, development and delivery of best military advice, joint command and control, integrated deterrence, allied and partner integration, and global force management. Leads efforts in developing and maintaining an in depth understanding of United States adversaries and develops products to create education and training forums to embed the adversary decision calculus into all aspects of the Deployable Training Division mission. Collects and synthesizes observations to provide the Joint Force Commander and staff comprehensive feedback on organizational responsibilities and staff processes to enrich decision making and unified action. Responsible for providing support to decision making at the highest level; identifying and resolving operational gaps and strategic weaknesses in framing problems (problem setting), understanding the environment, and measuring readiness. Leads joint planning efforts and integrates the creativity of operational art with the analytical and logical process of strategic and operational design.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Applying joint military operations and planning, integrating interagency and allied nations and partners into joint military plans and integrating the joint force into multinational and coalition operations; Supporting other government agencies and supporting foreign humanitarian assistance operations; Incorporating Joint Force Development and Design including the primary authorities and responsibilities of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and integrating those functions into training and senior leader education; Applying analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program and personnel effectiveness; Gathering, assembling, and compiling data while evaluating information and drawing conclusions to devise solutions and prepare quantitative and narrative reports for a variety of offices and agencies; Implementing the understanding of U.S. and foreign organizations, processes, capabilities and interests, as well as the wide range of international, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and the private sector interaction with them toward a comprehensive, whole of government(s) approach towards complex emergency and contingency operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
