This position is located within the Nursing, GEC department at VA Central Iowa and serves as an advance technician for outpatient care settings such as; primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics. As an Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) Generalist the incumbent may serve in a medical center, community-based outpatient clinic (cboc), mobile medical unit.

Duties

Major duties listed but not limited to: Performs ongoing patient care duties in an outpatient clinical setting. Performs observation-based screening and collecting patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel. Completes approved templates and tools, such as the outpatient intake form, normal result notes, and follow up treatment Crisis intervention, management of aggressive or suicidal psychiatric patients, by providing one-to-one observations and applying prevention and management of disruptive behavior techniques protocols established by the agency. Preparing patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments and providing treatment during in-person or virtual visits. Initiates cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) and use of automatic external defibrillator (AED) once certified and where appropriate according to American Heart Association (AHA) protocols and policies. Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday (work hours may be further discussed during interview) Telework: This position is not telework eligible. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: using of diagnostic signs to perform patient evaluation, to provide patient care, and to ensure appropriate patient handling; accurately communicating and relaying information to and from health care providers; administering drugs when directed to do so by the licensed staff. OR Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-07 level. Successful completion one full year of graduate education or an internship, where it is directly related to the work of this position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. (TRANSCRIPTS NEEDED) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
