This position is located in the Office of Victim Advocacy (OVA), within the Office of Director, Peace Corps headquarters, Washington DC. Office of Victim Advocacy serves as a liaison and advisor to various Peace Corps offices involved in providing response and support services to Volunteers who have been victims of sexual assault and violent crime; and coordinates an effective response for victim and survivor Volunteers.

The Administrative Specialist performs the following major duties:

This vacancy is being announced at two grade levels:
FP-7: Qualifying experience for the FP-7 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-9 or GS-5 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is defined as: Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature; strong organizational skills; ability to use qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques; working knowledge of current technological programs, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word and Excel);and communication skills to obtain information and discuss issues and operations with supervisors and employees.
OR
One (1) full year of successfully completed graduate level education or superior academic achievement, that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.

Superior Academic Achievement (SAA): SAA at the baccalaureate level in the coursework detailed above is fully qualifying. Applicants who wish to apply under this provision must submit proof from their educational institution that they meet one of the criteria listed below. To qualify for SAA, applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled and meet one of the following: Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university or major subdivision.
Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university or major subdivision. A grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
A grade point average of "B+" (a GPA of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
Membership in a national honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Equivalent combination of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. Only education beyond a bachelor's degree may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-07 level.
NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required.
FP-5: Qualifying experience for the FP-5 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the FP-7 or GS-7 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is defined as: Experience using qualitative and quantitative analysis to gather information, conduct fact finding, and develop and present reliable information; experience creating data imports/extracts and perform data analyses to prepare reports; experience planning, scheduling, coordinating and conducting assignments and projects; and interpersonal and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
OR
Successfully completed two (2) years of progressively higher-level graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree or LL.B. or J.D., in a related field of the position to be filled. Education at the graduate level must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.

OR
Equivalent combination of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. Only education in excess of the first year (18 semester hours) may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-09 level.

Specialized Experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer work done with National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) or other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Peace Corps employees are employed using the Foreign Personnel (FP) pay scale. The FP pay plan does not follow the same structure as the GS pay plan. In the FP pay plan, as the grade-level numbers decrease the level/pay for the position increases. The FP-09 is the lowest entry-level grade and the FP-01 is the highest senior-level grade.
