This is a career seasonal position located in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, in the Facility Management Division. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.

A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee is guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is October to end of March, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions. This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment. MAJOR DUTIES: Operates motor grader to ditch, plow, clear debris, flat road grading, maintaining road shoulders, and ditching where grading to stake is not required. Operates front end loaders in the process of moving dirt and materials, plowing snow and filling trucks. Uses a grader, loader, and dump truck to remove snow from roads and parking lots during winter months Uses equipment to perform road side brushing and clearing of debris. Loads, secures and hauls equipment to and from project sites using truck and trailer

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to operating multiple types of heavy engineering equipment inclusive of but not limited to: graders, bulldozers, loaders, excavators/backhoes and compactor without more than Normal Supervision. Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Reliability and Dependability as a Engineering Equipment Operator If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
