You will serve as a Secretary (Office Automation) in various departments of PSNS and IMF. GS-06: $49,400 - $64,222 GS-07: $54,896 - $71,366

Duties

You will respond to routine and non-technical request for information such as status reports, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance, and similar information readily available from files. You will compile and issue various daily, weekly, monthly and/or quarterly reports, as well as one-of-a-kind reports. You will obtain and provide background information on various subject matter and presents information to supervisors prior to scheduled phone calls, visitors or meetings. You will receive and screen visitors and phone calls from shipyard managers, Echelon 2 Command officials and military visitors, referring them to other staff members or other offices based upon knowledge of programs and operation points of contact. You will arrange for conferences, reserves space and teleconference bridge lines, notifies participants of date, time and place as well as the subject matter. You will maintain and control the supervisor's calendars, advising on daily appointments or conferences. You will arrange for travel, schedules visits and reservations. Creates and reviews travel orders in the Defense Travel System (DTS) and assists in completion of travel claims or travel vouchers. You will prepare and submit request for personnel actions on behalf of the office. You will closely review correspondence or other action documents compiled by the staff for completeness, format, adherence to stated office policy and for grammatical correctness prior to presentation to the supervisor for signature. You will flag items of interest for the attention of the supervisor that are found in publications, reports, correspondence or other material routed to the office.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 45 pounds in weight.

Qualifications

GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using office automation systems to perform administrative functions (e.g. record keeping, updating and maintaining existing program Database Management Systems (DMS), creating reports and/or memos, screening and directing phone calls and facilitating meetings) for the support of the assigned supervisor and staff. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using office automation systems to perform administrative functions (e.g. updating existing program Database Management Systems (DMS), creating reports and answering phones) for the support of the assigned supervisor and staff. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

1 academic year of graduate education (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements) in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position.
