Duties

As a Legal Administrative Specialist (eLitigation Support) in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a variety of technical, analytical, and legal support services to the District of Nevada. At the full performance level, your duties will include:

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS 7:To be eligible at the GS 7 level, you must meet at least one of the conditions listed below: Specialized experience is defined as experience assisting with computerized presentations using a variety of software packages including database, spreadsheet, trial presentation, audio editing and video editing applications. Supporting attorneys in preparing for court such as preparing exhibits, subpoenas, information requests, pleadings and/or correspondence; or preparing discovery productions, including scanning, processing, and coding documents. Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, Criminal Justice): One full year of graduate level education or a bachelor's degree (or expect to complete within 9 months all the requirements for a bachelor's degree) AND meet one of the following Superior Academic Achievement provisions: (1) class standing in the upper one-third of the graduating class; (2) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or a GPA of 3.5 or higher based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2years of the curriculum; or (3) election to a membership in a national scholastic honor society. Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least one of the conditions listed below: Specialized experience is defined as experience performing a variety of automated support necessary in preparing, organizing, processing, indexing, developing, and managing exhibits, evidence, and data relevant to cases presented for a jury, grand jury, or other legal proceedings; assisting attorneys with trial preparation and presentation to include preparing computerized presentations using a variety of software packages including database, spreadsheet, trial presentation, audio editing and video editing applications; or processing and indexing digital evidence using computer litigation support software. Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, Criminal Justice) a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B.); OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
