Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must have one of the following:
1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level defined as Researching government information management rules and regulations to assist in the disclosure of information in response to official requests.
1 full year of graduate level education; or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition); the education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
equivalent combination of education and experience
To qualify for the GS-09 level, you must have one of the following:
1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level defined as Researching government information management rules and regulations to assist in the disclosure of information in response to official requests; applying records management guidance pertaining to retention, disclosure and destruction of agency records.
master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; the education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
equivalent combination of education and experience
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and methodology of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA).
Skill in applying knowledge of FOIA and PA in carrying out elementary assignments, operations, or procedures.
Knowledge of technical methods to perform assignments such as carrying out limited projects that involve use of various techniques.
Ability to analyze records and make evaluations of government information issues.
Ability to assist the senior specialist with presenting determinations and recommendations with detailed justification.
Skill in written communication.
Skill in oral communication.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
