About the position:
This position will be assigned to CDC MAIN located on Peterson Space Force Base.
This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
Must be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand and walk and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods of time.
Duties
Duties and Responsibilities:
Places uniform portions of food into serving bowls.
Sets up meal carts with hot and cold food items including meats. vegetables, salads. desserts, bread, butter, and beverages.
Serves food by order and proper proportion and standard serving sizes.
Collects meal serving trays, plates. and utensils from rooms when meals are finished and returns it to the Center's kitchen for cleaning.
Sets up and operates dishwasher and stores cleaned dishes, glasses. and silverware.
Performs preventive maintenance and cleaning of equipment and notifies kitchen supervisor or head cook of issues regarding dishwasher equipment.
Scrapes. soaks, scours and scrubs bowls, pots and pans.
Performs heavy duty cleaning tasks in areas such as: kitchen ceilings, exhaust hoods, floors, and walls.
Cleans under and behind kitchen equipment, mops and washes floors, cleans walk-in refrigerators and freezers, and sanitizes garbage cans.
Helps cook supervisor/head cook with the loading and on loading of food and other kitchen items from delivery trucks and aids with the storage of these items.
Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area and cleans trash cans.
Sorts, washes, peels, and cuts fresh fruits and vegetables and completes simple food preparation such as salads, sandwiches, and snacks using prepared ingredients; incumbent may serve light food items requiring little or no preparation time to children when necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain, maintain, and provide evidence of current immunizations this includes annual influenza vaccinations and be free of all communicable diseases.
- This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite interruptions and distractions. A working knowledge of food/kitchen sanitation standards is required as well as knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination. This experience must have been gained in a CDC/youth center kitchen, cafeteria, restaurant, snack bar, or similar operation. Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures. Ability to read and understand written material and be able to follow simple oral instructions. Must be able to read and write English. Must be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines. Must be able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds, and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete Food Handler's training. Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination and have or obtain all required immunizations, including annual influenza shot. Must be able to satisfactorily complete all mandatory trainings. Must satisfactorily complete all local and national agency checks, such as DCII, Installation Records Checks, State Criminal History Repository Checks, Advanced Fingerprint Check, and a Tier 1 background investigation. Must be able to satisfactorily complete Food Service Staff training modules and Child Abuse and Neglect modules within 6 months of appointment. Required to complete a Basic Criminal History and Statement of Admission (DD Form 2981) annually. Position is a position of trust.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
