Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Information and Technology will allow you to use your experience in supporting business processes of CBP automated systems. This position starts at a salary of $139,395.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $181,216.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $181,216 (GS-14 Step 10). In this Information Technology Specialist position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals. Typical work assignments include: Providing support in the planning, configuring, installing, troubleshooting, and implementing of stakeholder requirements for IT projects. Ensuring team assignments, projects, actionable events, milestones, issues, and deadlines for completion are clearly communicated. Monitoring the status and progress of work by collaborating with others to obtain required resources, information, deadlines, and pertinent decisions to resolve work issues. Identifying information security system requirements associated with migrations to new environments Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendation You qualify for this position if you meet the basic requirement listed above and possess one year of specialized experience as described below. Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Utilizing enterprise IT programs/systems; along with a wide-range of system applications, operating systems, protocols, and equipment used in order to provide expert advice, assistance, support and recommendations to stakeholders. Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs. Applying oral and written communication techniques to prepare and present reports, interpret technical and non-technical information, conduct meetings and briefings, as well as the ability to interface with all levels of management. Applying information technology concepts, principles, methods and practices to provide technical advice, recommendations and guidance on a variety of complex issue to management.
