This vacancy is for a Supervisory International Trade Specialist in the International Trade Administration within the Department of Commerce.

Duties

As a Supervisory International Trade Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Understand the impact of specific inbound investment practices and policies on U.S. job creation and economic growth, the U.S. as an export platform, and related federal policy, and must adapt this knowledge in order to assist global companies to invest or expand in the United States and assist economic development organizations in their efforts to attract investment. Assess and frequently reconcile numerous and diverse variables and interests in developing investment promotion and facilitation strategies, programs and positions. Issues faced require extensive analysis, and decisions and recommendations reflect the need to balance empirical investment information with interpretation and prediction of influences of economic, market, political, and other events. Communicate highly complex investment policy issues in a clear and concise manner through briefing papers and memoranda, and through oral briefings with senior officials. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-14 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: developing trade strategies, programs and positions; and planning, managing and implementing investment program segments that address primary U.S investment priorities and impact multiple industry sectors; and overseeing the work of other trade experts by understanding the issues, direct assignments, and support the final work product or service delivered trade employees.
