The Laundry Worker position is located in the Environment Management Service department at the West Haven, CT location. This position is a Full-Time position at 40 hours per week.

Duties

Using manually operated marking machine(s) in the proper identification of hospital linens. Bagging small or fragile items in lieu of marking individually, and attaching tag to the bag. Classifying and segregating soiled articles into groups according to the various washing requirements. Removal of soiled articles from designated utility room for transport to Brockton, MA. Catching, folding, and stacking the articles as they emerge from the presser. Separating the rough dried laundry (other than flatwork) by type and folds in accordance with established procedures. Checking for reject items and those which require mending, referring them to the supervisor for removal from stock. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday. Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm. This position may include weekend and holiday. Position Description Title/PD#: Laundry Worker/PD02520A Physical Requirements: Incumbent is required to stand for long periods. When operating laundry equipment, constant movement of the arms and legs is required. Bending and stooping at times may be required. Excessive movement of arms when sorting is to be expected. The incumbent frequently lifts, carries and moves items such as furniture, full mop buckets, trash bags, linen bags/bins or waste containers weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally heavier objects with assistance and/or mechanical devices as appropriate for safety. Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Approved.
