This position is part of the USTRANSCOM Agency. This position serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and the primary point of contact to the Chief, Mission Assurance Operations Branch and Chief, Mission Assurance Division involved in strategic and operational level risk (USTRANSCOM) global operations.
Duties
As a Mission Assurance Specialist at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Assists in the planning, organization, and direction of activities of the USTRANSCOM Mission Assurance Operations Branch; responsible for the Mission Assurance Working Group (MAWG) and OPR for operational risk assessments for USTRANSCOM missions.
Lead coordinator for monitoring global threats to USTRANSCOM operations; surface, sea, air, and cyber to include Force Protection Condition (FPCON), Maritime Security, Information Operations Condition, Watch Condition, and Defense Readiness Condition changes.
Analyzes, develops, and proposes risk management options to mitigate emerging disruptions to USTRANSCOM missions.
Serves as primary task coordinator for TCJ3-4 Operations Branch. Acts on behalf of the Branch Chief when required.
Assists the Vendor Threat Mitigation Program to assess foreign contractor unsuitability.
Directly engages with and briefs senior leaders at the GO/FO/SES level on situational awareness and risk management course of action recommendations for identified threats and hazards to global missions. - Coordinates training and exercise requirements for the Operations Branch.

- Employee must be able to acquire and retain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance as a condition of employment.
- Work occasionally requires travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- The employee may be recalled to duty, may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, and may be required to work overtime to support military operations.
- This position is designated by the Air force as a Test Designated Position (TOP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Travel and relocation expenses, if approved, will be paid IAW JTR and AFMAN 36-606.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Analyzing, developing, and proposing risk management options to mitigate emerging disruptions to transportation operations.
Engaging with and briefing senior leaders on situational awareness and risk management course of action recommendations for identified threats and hazards to global missions.
Leading forums supporting an agency's operational risk activities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
