About the Position: Serves as Site Director, who reports to the Dean of Language, Regional Expertise and Culture (LREC)Operational Programs, administers, and manages intermediate and advanced level instructional programs by evaluating, selecting, and sequencing language materials and ensuring their integration into a mission-responsive, effective, and efficient language curriculum.

Competent and highly skilled leader and an effective team player. Knowledge of new leadership trends and the flexibility to deal with significant organizational change. Capability to plan, initiate and complete projects on time. Effective interpersonal communications with peers and supervisors. Familiar with the theories and practices of servant leadership. Diagnose and address student learning problems. Provide hands-on training and mentoring of teachers. Experience in a wide array of actions in coordination with the appropriate officials of any pertinent partner administration. Manage curriculum development projects to tailor requirements with military units.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens and non-US Citizens with valid US Work Authorization. This position is a TERM time limited position tenure track. The initial appointment is not to exceed (NTE) 12 months 1 day, and may be extended upon mission, funding and management discretion. Applicants who do not possess a current, valid U.S. work authorization may not be appointed for 12 months, 1 day, but will receive an appointment aligned to their work authorization status, to include those who may only be appointed for less than one year, who will receive a TEMPORARY Tenure 0 appointment. This position is a TERM time limited position, tenure track. The initial appointment is not to exceed (NTE) 12 months 1 day, and may be extended upon mission, funding and management discretion. POSITION WILL BE FILLED AT ONE RANK: AD-1701-04 Assistant Professor. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant work experience and education level (degree and year awarded); official transcripts/foreign transcript evaluation will be requested upon selection. Must be able to speak, read and write in English fluently. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Basic Requirement: Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) or related field is preferred but not required. OR Master's degree with a major or minor in Foreign Language Education, Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (TESOL/TEFL), Linguistics, Language (English included), Literature, Education, Educational Psychology, Educational Technology, Translation & Interpretation, Cross-Cultural Studies, or Educational Administration. OR Master's degree other than above and one year of directly related work. OR bachelor's degree and two years of directly related work. DIRECTLY RELATED WORK: Formal classroom instruction of a language foreign to the students at high school level or above. Formal classroom instruction normally includes such activities as class preparation, course preparation/modification, testing, tutoring, and counseling in a structured, education environment. OR: Program Management-such as scheduling, accreditation, operations support and/or a language program. LANGUAGE EVALUATION: The minimum English proficiency is a Level 2 in speaking. If a dialect is required, the minimum proficiency is Level 3. The proficiency levels are defined by the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level descriptions and can be viewed at http://www.govtilr.org. Failure of any portion of the language tests will disqualify applicants for a period of 6 months. Applicants may re-apply after 6 months. Upon subsequent selection, retesting is allowed only once. If Selected, applicant must pass the English Language proficiency test.
