This vacancy is for a Student Trainee (Business and Industry) Pathways Intern, in the International Trade Administration. As a Student Trainee, you will receive on-the-job training which involves working with higher grade specialists in support of routine tasks.

This position is Not-to-exceed (NTE) 1 year, with the option to extend.
Duties
As a Student Trainee (Business and Industry) Pathways Intern, you will perform the following duties:
Researching and drafting routine, non-complex papers and correspondence.
The trainee will assist with analyzing, extracting, summarizing, and identifying significant trends and Issues in International trade and/or business and industry.
Provides support in preparation of internal and external meetings.

Qualifications

To qualify, the candidate must:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must be currently enrolled or accepted as a student on at least half-time basis at a qualifying educational institution or curricula (4-year college/university, graduate or professional school, technical or vocation) in a certificate, degree, or diploma program. The educational institution or curricula that has an accreditation recognized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education. Qualifying Educational Institutions are any of the following: 1) A public high school whose curriculum has been approved by a State or local governing body; 2) A private school that provides secondary education as determined under State law; 3) A home school that is allowed to operate in a State; 4) Any of the following educational institutions or curricula that have been accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education: A technical or vocational school; a 2-year or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g. law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum.
Must meet the above definition of a student throughout the duration of the internship through January 2025. (Applicants who have graduated and not enrolled or accepted as a student in an undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate program during the internship is not eligible for this position)
Must be in good academic standing (maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 on a 4-point scale) throughout the internship.
Must meet the below minimum qualification requirements for each grade you are requesting consideration for.
To qualify at the GS-05 grade level: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
To qualify at the GS-07 grade level you must have ONE of the following: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education; OR Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision with completion of a bachelor's degree. AND one of the following provisions of superior academic achievement: (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.
Class Standing: Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision.
Grade-point average: Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.
Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society, other than freshman honor societies. Honor societies that have been approved are listed in the American College of Honor Societies.
TRANSCRIPTS are required at the time of application. If you do not submit a transcript indicating your enrollment and possession of a degree, you will not be considered for this position.
