The Department of Commerce is seeking bright, innovative, results-oriented individuals to join our Pathways Recent Graduates Program. This vacancy is for a Business and Industry Assistant (Pathways Recent Graduates) in the International Trade Administration. In this position, you will assist senior staff performing Business and Industry duties.

Duties
As a Business and Industry Assistant (Pathways Recent Graduates), you will:
Provide technical support to unit business and industry programs, operations, and activities.
Research and assemble information requiring understanding of the program/function area involved.
Assists Senior Specialist on exercising regulatory or oversight authorities by reviewing data and reports and communicating findings.
Provides operational management assistance by preparing and reviewing reports, distributing, and tracking progress of documents and action items.
This is a developmental (entry-level) Pathways Recent Graduate position, at the GS7 grade level.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Business and Industry Assistant (Pathways Recent Graduates) GS-1101-7positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To be eligible for the Pathways Recent Graduate program, you must meet the following:
You must be a recent graduate from a qualifying associate, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate program from a qualifying educational institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education within 2 years (from this vacancy closing date).
Veterans unable to apply within two years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, have as much as six years after degree completion to apply.
You must also meet the below described minimum qualification requirement for the position.
Specialized Experience: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service to qualify at the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience: a) Researching business or financial information; b) Assisting with assembling data and/or producing reports and information; and c) Tracking the progress of documents and/or action items.
OR
Education: One year of graduate level education.
OR
Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) as demonstrated by a bachelor's degree in a field related to business and industry, from an accredited college or university. Superior Academic Achievement must be evidenced by at least one of the following methods; (1) Class standing in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; (2) Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (3) Election to member in a national scholastic honor society. Note: If you select "C", your application materials must clearly state how you meet superior academic achievement.

A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience.
