About the Position: Serves as a Computer Assistant providing a central point of contact for all questions and problems related to personal computer hardware, software applications and networks; and providing a full range of problem resolution support services for the Information Center's end-users.
Duties
Answers incoming calls, accurately recording and logging them into an automated tracking system.
Assist customers with creating Capability Request (CAPR) if equipment is economically feasible for repair but not under a maintenance contract.
Identifies recurring problems, reporting trends to the Chief Information Officer/Deputy Chief Information Officer.
Provides guidance to end-users in solving problems.
Requirements

- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel may be required up to 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing an automated log help desk system to track customer requests and/or problems with computer system; providing intake services requests from customers requiring assistance in the information technology arena; assisting customers with functional programs to resolve technical computer problems; AND resolving customer questions regarding Information Technology (IT) automation systems, software and/or hardware problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-06.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
