Duties
This position is located under the Office of the Director, in Washington, District of Columbia.
This position serves as a Project Officer (Travel and Logistics) in the Office of the Director (OD), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Department of Justice (DOJ). The primary purpose of this position is to provide program management of travel and logistics related matters for the Director, Deputy Director, Executive Assistant Directors, Chief of Staff, and other members of the Office of the Director.
As a Project Officer (Travel and Logistics), GS-0301-9/11/12/13, your typical work assignments may include:
GS-09
Make travel arrangements, prepare itineraries, and ensure travelers have all required documents.
Communicate travel plans and itineraries with travelers and others that need to know.
Coordinate all necessary RSVP's and traveler registrations for events/conferences.
Submit travel authorizations for approval prior to travel commencing and submit travel vouchers once travel is completed.
GS-11
Make travel arrangements, prepares itineraries, and ensures travelers have all required documents.
Evaluate and select providers of services according to customer requirements and in accordance with policy and regulations.
Communicate travel plans and itineraries with travelers and others that need to know.
Coordinate all necessary RSVP's and traveler registrations for events/conferences.
Submit travel authorizations for approval prior to travel commencing and submit travel vouchers once travel is completed.
GS-12
Provide professional consultative and advisory assistance on matters of travel.
Make travel arrangements, prepare itineraries, and ensure travelers have all required documents.
Evaluate and select providers of services according to customer requirements and in accordance with policy and regulations.
Communicate travel plans and itineraries with travelers and others that need to know.
Coordinate all necessary RSVP's and traveler registrations for events/conferences.
Submit travel authorizations for approval prior to travel commencing and submit travel vouchers once travel is completed.
GS-13
Provide professional consultative and advisory assistance on matters of travel.
Develop administrative processes and procedures to facilitate a more efficient and effective travel program.
Make travel arrangements, prepare itineraries, and ensure travelers have all required documents.
Evaluate and select providers of services according to customer requirements and in accordance with policy and regulations.
Communicate travel plans and itineraries with travelers and others that need to know.
Coordinate all necessary RSVP's and traveler registrations for events/conferences.
Submit travel authorizations for approval prior to travel commencing and submit travel vouchers once travel is completed.
Resolve any and all conflicts and/or negotiations with travel vendors.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.
Qualifications
To qualify for a GS-09, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-07; OR a Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D.) or at least two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field; OR a combination of specialized experience, and related graduate level education, beyond the first full year of graduate level study, that when combined, meet the qualification requirements for this position. (Transcript required if using education or specialized experience and education, to qualify).
GS-09- You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
Specialized Experience needed:
Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders; AND
Prepare and participate in a broad range of engagements requiring travel; AND
Assist in the development of written processes and procedures.
To qualify for a GS-11, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-09; OR successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or at least 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a degree, (such as an LL.M); OR a combination of specialized experience, and related graduate level education beyond the second full year of graduate level study, that when combined, meet the qualification requirements for this position. GS-11- You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
Specialized Experience needed:
Prioritize, plan, organize and accomplish travel for all stakeholders; AND
Maintain and utilize knowledge of policies and procedures with regards to travel rules and regulations; AND
Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with all stakeholders.
To qualify for a GS-12, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11.
GS-12- You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.

Understand workplace flexibilities, rules and regulations in order to analyze and develop recommendations for improvements to the travel program; AND
Maintain and utilize knowledge of policies and procedures with regards to travel rules and regulations; AND

To qualify for a GS-13, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12.
GS-13- You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties: Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
